I have watched all nine seasons of the office multiple times, I will definitely recognize every episode when I watch it again. I just found out that this version of the office, is based of the original British version of the show. It is labeled a mockumentary, which is something rather interesting that I haven’t ever heard. Also, a fair amount of scenes were improvised! This one scene in particular where two guys kiss, which was weird at the time, was improvised!

Some of the hardships the casts went through was really tough. Michael, the branch manager, harasses everybody in the office, constantly. He says everything on his mind, with absolutely no filter at all. Even though it is a show, a lot of it is improvised so it might be taken personally to some of the other workers in the office. For example, Kevin is a significantly large guy, and is constantly being made fun of for that, and could catch up with him after awhile and be taken personally. Next, Oscar is gay in the show, but not in real life, so instantly you don’t know that and just assume he’s gay, because if you are stereotypical he looks like he is. That could be very tough, people instantly assuming your way of life and sexuality when it’s not actually how you feel.

The actors from the office come from a pretty wide background, some stand-up, and improv is there is no surprise why it’s a hilarious show. A complete script was written for every episode, but were given flexibility to improvise here in there, which turned out to be a lot. The set was very familiar after awhile, pretty much every scene being filmed in the office, with the break room, conference room, bathrooms, everything becomes familiar, even the parking lot.

I would enjoy working on a film set. I think I couldn’t pull off being a director, after a while I’d get annoyed whenever we work on a scene for a long time and can’t get it down. I think I’d be a good editor, considering in a show like this there isn’t many animations, just good shots that are edited well. I think being on set would still be a lot of fun, but hard work. Being able to work on it and feel accomplished afterwards when your film or show is done is very rewarding and accomplishing. I think it is a lot of commitment, constantly working on a film set every day, is a very taxing job, but rewarding.
